5 Must-Have Summer Dresses | Mini, Midi, Maxi & More
Summer is here and there’s nothing better than throwing on a summer dress and getting outside! With so many options and dresses for every occasion, I broke it down into 5 must-have styles for this season. Whether you’re looking for summer basics, classic floral prints or maybe a magnificent maxi… I’ve got you covered! Keep reading for summer dress style inspiration and some of the best dresses ModeSens has to offer!
First up, is the modest midi dress. This style has definitely become more popular in recent years and I have to say, it ages well. Many midi dresses can be worn for years to come, especially ones like this black La Ligne (pictured above, left) piece I found. This brand was a recent discovery for me and I couldn’t be happier! They have very classic designs and great materials for summer. A staple like this can be worn hundreds of ways!
Or, go for a more 1950s look with this collared Gul Hurgel midi dress (pictured above, right). Anything made of linen is perfect for summertime and this pale blue stripe is classic. Shop similar options here!
Up next, we have the slip dress. I had to include this in here because I have not stopped wearing them! They are everything for summer (especially a Dallas summer). A slip dress does the most while you’re doing the least, and that is exactly what a summer dress should be. Simple and clean, it can be styled in a multitude of ways. I recently purchased three from La Perla and have worn them alone or paired with a blazer or a light sweater.
The jersey dress is a wardrobe staple, but I wanted to highlight the importance of the material. If you’re not careful, you might find yourself with a dress that feels suffocating or not fit for summer weather (or sweating weather). Both of the above pieces have an elevated take on materials. The midi style from James Perse is a cashmere blend that is super soft and lightweight, while the Celine dress is actually a silk knit that feels great on and works on those extra hot days.
We simply couldn’t discuss summer dresses without mentioning white embroidery. If there was a pageant, she would be the queen. You’ll see white embroidered dresses on women everywhere during the summer season. It’s dainty, bright and often has exquisite detail. Whether it’s mini, midi or maxi, make sure you have (atleast) one in your wardrobe! Perfect for lunch, brunch, a day by the pool or a night out with your man. Both dresses pictured above are from a new brand I found, Charo Ruiz. I am totally obsessed with these pieces, from the material to the detail, so dreamy!
Last, but definitely not least, is the maxi dress. Honestly, this dress is a dream come true for me. I’ve always loved Dior maxi dresses and I found this one on sale! Trust me girls, it’s luxury for a reason! The craftsmanship is outstanding; the skirt is double-layered, and the inner layer is made of heavier cotton, which helps to keep the shape of this luxurious dress. Honestly, a maxi dress is a wardrobe staple. If you can have a solid, classic maxi and one that has a more fun print, you’re set!
