Sunny days are here again. And with them, the urge to update that wardrobe. To help you stand out this season, Le Bon Marché has selected five top new menswear labels for customers in search of quality modern staples.

Sunspel and Universal Work

Sunspel has been producing menswear in the United Kingdom for over 150 years. Renowned for its innovative manufacturing techniques and use of premium quality natural materials, Sunspel is still producing its iconic T-shirts at its factory in Long Eaton, near Nottingham.

For spring-summer 2019, Sunspel has designed a collection of T-shirts hand-dyed using the traditional Japanese "Shibori” technique. Available in indigo blue or pale yellow, Sunspel’s unique T-shirts made from organic cotton have succeeded in reinventing classic stripes.

Universal Works was founded in 2009 by David Keyte, whose youth spent in a provincial town in the Midlands provides the inspiration for designs that blend utilitarian style with well-thought-out, minimalist cuts. Between the revisited work jackets and the loose chinos, pieces by Universal Works feel genuinely modern, while being very easy to wear and incorporating quality materials.

Lesca and Drapeau Noir

Sunglasses are an all-important finishing touch for any summer look. Lesca, an eyewear specialist at the top of its game, offers vintage style collections produced using innovative techniques and made from original and robust materials, such as real buffalo horn. Make a style statement with the iconic "Corbs" design by Le Corbusier, reissued by Lesca.

After a career in law, Nicolas decided to pursue another avenue and created Drapeau Noir, a brand inspired by Paris and the American counterculture of the 1970s.

Collection after collection, he works closely with his partners. Quality and human relationships are key among his concerns in offering fashion that is simple and accessible, not to mention properly made.

Founded in 2006 by two friends, Mathieu Sorosina and Valentin Porcher, Olow is an all French label that produces every one of its garments from natural fibres at factories in Europe. It is characterised by collections inspired by travel and art de vivre, featuring smart, sleek and understated pieces imbued with poetry and freedom. Influenced by profoundly artistic environments from an early age, Mathieu and Valentin enjoy collaborating with artists on trendy and exclusive motifs.
