An effervescent project pioneered by the Italian luxury powerhouse, Moncler, the Genius line sees ten collections designed by an eclectic ensemble of contemporary creative forces. Showcasing their individual talents and inspired interpretations of the iconic label, each collection draws from the Moncler DNA with an innovative sensibility and visual aesthetic defined by their individual practices.

Presenting a unique take on the Moncler's visual code, 8 Moncler Palm Angels sees Francesco Ragazzi transform the label's central components with his street-ready approach and a close personal relationship with the brand as their artistic director. Inspired by Los Angeles skateboarding culture, Ragazzi's brand captures a sense of youthful exuberance and effortless cool epitomised by their no-holds-barred approach to design.

Looking to Jeff Koons for inspiration, Ragazzi reimagines the American artist's metallic tones for his latest Moncler Genius collection, applying them to a varied collection of signature Moncler garments. Ruminating on this fresh offering of apparel for AW19, Ragazzi comments; “I started with the idea of a vandalized art gallery. The purity of lines and form that are in a second moment clashed with a protest. Moncler for me is about the simplicity of a product that comes to life in many forms. I wanted to have that form broken.” Covered in a smattering of spray-painted branding and old-school photo collages, proportions are manipulated to redefine Moncler's key elements while maintaining their distinctive and authentic nature.

Mixing the clean-cut nature of Moncler with a darker attitude, Palm Angels introduce a touch of punk styling with their rough and ready aesthetic. The perfect combination of abstraction and verisimilitude, Ragazzi continues to showcase the importance and cultural impact of Moncler through this striking and playful collection of garments.
