Family Vacation LookBook By Fashion Director Jing Leng
Hi loves, I am ModeSens’ Fashion Director Jing Leng. Today I will be sharing with you how I coordinated our family outfits during our Cancun vacation.
Airport Look
First look is a mother and son matching airport look! Kids clothing has such a variety of fun prints and patterns. I found these star printed jeans by Stella McCartney to match with Alex’s jeans. To balance out the busy star prints, I paired our looks with a simple white T-shirt. Sandals are a must for beach vacations. We both wore our favorite waterproof sandals with some fun socks since the AC can be a bit cold on the airplane. Now we are all ready for Cancun!
Family Vacation Look
Beach vacations mean lots of time outdoors. I brought many swimsuits for my kids for our trip to Cancun. This is my first time selecting kids clothes from Marysia. I love their kids clothes selection, so fun and colorful!
For this family look I picked out purple checkered pieces for Emma and Alex. To match them I found a pair of super soft jogger pants by TIBI.
When we go on beach vacations I like to bring some long-sleeve swimsuit options for kids. When they are out playing for long hours it is better for them to wear long-sleeve swimsuits to protect their skin from UV rays.
I packed a lot of white clothes for this trip. White is an easy color to coordinate. Plus, white really gives off a fresh vacation feel. My husband doesn’t own any (rarely wears) lavender so white on white it is for him. Pro tip: choosing light colored clothing is a great way to prevent your clothing from absorbing all the heat!
Mother and Daughter Date
Spending time with my daughter feels just like having a mini best friend.
We both picked out lemon printed swimsuits and matching colorful bracelets. We spent the whole day together reading our favorite books, eating amazing mexican food, enjoying the nice beach breeze and we also watched the sunset over the ocean. I’m so thankful for you Emma~
Matching Floral Dress
The easiest way to match with my daughter is to select brands that make mother and daughter clothing.
Our matching floral dress is from one of my favorite brands for mother and daughter clothing LoveShackFancy. Sometimes when I look at certain dresses it makes me feel like oh it’s so pretty but might be a little too girly for me. But, when I saw this dress with a matching little girl option I fell in love with it as a matching set with Emma!
I really like the kids' design of this dress. I am so glad they did not design an identical maxi dress for kids. Maxi dresses are not easy for girls to run around and play in so this knee length dress is just perfect.
For our shoes we are both wearing sandals from Dsquared2. Let me share with you a little secret: I’m actually wearing kids sandals~
My Mini Me and I
This romantic lace trim dress set is from Miguelina. Originally I picked it out for myself but once I found out they have a kids version my whole heart just melted. I immediately felt the need to get them for our trip.
If you are shopping for your next beach vacation, I highly recommend checking out Miguelina on ModeSens. Their clothing will put you right in vacation mode. Plus a lot of their clothes are made with linen or cotton which are very breathable for warm climates.
Their matching sets are all sold separately so you’re not restricted in buying a whole set. How perfect is that?
Outfit Coordination Tips
The most challenging part about outfit coordination with your kids is the ability to combine clothing of different brands, styles, and colors. My basic idea when it comes to coordinating outfits with my family is to focus on matching the colors and prints.
Let’s take this mother and daughter outfit for example. I found matching yellow, green and white elements from our closets and paired them together. This flower and fruit vibe is just perfect. Now I’m all ready to enjoy my book while keeping an eye on Emma at the pool.
Mother and Son Look
Is matching mother and son outfit challenging for you? Let me tell you the story of our matching shirts. I was out shopping with my husband one day. As I was complaining to him about how hard it is to find a mother and son look… A light bulb went off! I wondered if the largest size of a shirt I bought (for Alex) will fit me. We went back to that store and I am so happy they had a size that fits me perfectly. To jazz it up a little I tied a knot at the front of the shirt.
Family Beach Look
Rather than wearing the same exact matching outfits. I prefer coordinating colors!
For our family picture this spring we went with a light blue theme for our tops. For our bottoms Emma and I wore matching white pants and Alex and my husband wore matching navy shorts. An easy color coordination anyone can achieve!
