After launching ready-to-wear label Ter et Bantine in the late 1960s, Paris-reared Chantal Thomass decided to delve beneath the surface, establishing her namesake lingerie brand in 1975. Deviating from the then-popular trend for creating purely practical undergarments, Thomass began experimenting with lace, silk and frills, crafting ultra-feminine, undeniably sensual underpinnings. Widely credited with resurrecting the corset, the suspender belt and the basque, Thomass simply believed in creating beautiful things for beauty’s sake—and established a cult following in the process. Sexy, sophisticated and exquisitely constructed, Thomass’ designs are made for the contemporary woman, equally confident at home in the boardroom and the bedroom.
