madebywave is a hand crafted beach and travel accessories label that celebrates living an authentic life in colour. Founded by Victoria Bakir, a former travel writer and journalist, the brand blends traditional Indonesian craftsmanship with the modern aesthetics of a global traveller. madebywave was born on a trip across Indonesia in 2015. As a true beach and fashion aficionado, Victoria was inspired to combine traditional craftsmanship with contemporary lifestyle aesthetics. The desire to create 'a must-have piece' took her on an incredible journey across the Indonesian islands in search of destinations where traditional craftsmanship is still an integral part of the community. The brand's 2017 debut collection includes a range of ethically sourced handwoven sarongs in five colourways, each one hand-dyed and handwoven by Indonesian artisans. It takes up to two days to weave each piece using patterns that merge traditional elements from Sumba island with modern aesthetics. The debut collection also includes handmade straw beach bags and clutch bags. madebywave is proud to create must-have accessories and transitional pieces for every global traveller to enjoy.
