A curated roundup of the best new fashion arrivals, hand-picked by our editors
Always one to push the boundaries of creativity, Irish-born designer Simone Rocha bucked the trend to go digital with her show last London Fashion Week and debuted her SS21 collection at the Hauser & Wirth gallery on Saville Row – one of the city’s most iconic sartorial landmarks. Known for her romantic and often ornate pieces, Rocha is a keen believer in fashion as a spectacle, and so her choice of a contemporary art gallery couldn’t have been more fitting. A celebration of fantasy and escapism, even Rocha’s more practical pieces featured delicate embroidery and feminine design details that are evocative of folklore and fairy tales.
Case in point? This pajama-style ensemble, comprising an asymmetric shirt and wide-leg pants, complete with floral ‘SR’ insignia. For shopping editor Chloe Waller, it struck the perfect balance between wearable and whimsical, which is why she couldn’t wait to buy both pieces when they landed on NET-A-PORTER this week.
“This Simone Rocha matching set is pure joy! From the excellent cut of the shirt to the beautiful embroidery, it makes a perfect mood-lifting outfit for the sunny spring days ahead. I also love how easy matching sets make getting dressed in the morning – no outfit planning required. I will by styling this chic two-piece with loafers and a classic trench coat for an effortless trans-seasonal look.”
Of course, one of the fastest ways to add joy to your closet is via jewels and accessories. Jameel Mohammed, the pioneering creative behind breaking jewelry brand Khiry Fine, has quickly acquired a cult following thanks to his distinctive aesthetic. His ‘Mask’ 18-karat gold, diamond and emerald necklace is influenced by West African masks and the work of seminal sculptor Constantin Brancusi. Let it enliven everything from a white tee and jeans to summer dresses and all-black outfits. Elsewhere, Bottega Veneta’s cat-eye sunglasses, Khaite’s luxe leather slides and Loewe’s ‘Shell’ tote – a nod to the work of renowned ceramicist George E. Ohr – promise to elevate every outfit in your wardrobe.
