Artist Jeremy Burleson has a particular interest in all things medical, often combining his illustrations with rows of bottles, syringes and balloons. In addition, he uses masking tape and paper to build highly detailed, quasi-workable versions of stethoscopes, ventilators and syringes. Burleson also crafts lyrical lampshades made from tightly rolled paper and designed to hang from the ceiling. Throughout his work at NIAD runs the thread of strange theatricality similar to that of early pop artists like Claes Oldenburg and Red Grooms.
