The incense sticks from Astier de Villatte are something very special and exude the aroma of magical destinations, here from Namche Bazar, a place in Nepal on the way to Mount Everest. The "Incense Sticks" are handcrafted with love on Awaji, a Japanese island with a very long tradition of incense sticks. The mixture of pulverized wood and plant parts, which are needed to make incense sticks, are kneaded with tree resin to form a paste. After a ripening period of two weeks, the individual ingredients have melded to create the fragrance of the desired composition, the paste is then cut into strips and milled into sticks.
