Demna Gvasalia is said to take inspiration from his friends when designing for Balenciaga; perhaps this is what's kept Cristóbal's vision alive (after all, the Artistic Director's pals are probably very cool). For AW19, the Spanish house debuts these Oval mules with their round block heel and backless outline. Shaped with - you guessed it - an oval shape at the front, they're an off kilter pair that represent what the brand is all about. Balenciaga's architectural construction and attention to detail can turn even the simplest silhouette into something extraordinary. Made in Italy from glossy leather, these mules have a distinctive oval toe and are set on a cylindrical heel. They'll suit every color from neon-brights to pared-back neutrals - make sure your hemlines stay cropped to show off the geometric shapes.

The House Of Balenciaga A fashion house founded by Cristóbal Balenciaga in 1918, this Spanish born designer was known for his unmatchable eye to detail in the art of couture making. His pieces showed uncompromising standards which led the designer Christian Dior to refer to Balenciaga as the "the master of us all". Trademarks of Balenciaga's where evident as he progressed. Odd, feminine, yet undoubtedly modern shapes where some of the many. Balenciaga was also known for starting his shows with a Little Black dress in the season's cut, but put to work his architecturally driven mind to derive an ultra modern form of what was once a traditional LBD, into a highly sought after "IT" piece.
