Whether it's the peyote-infused Wild West-focused packaging (complete with detachable cowboy fridge magnet avatars) or the layered, challenging complexity of the formulations themselves, Project Renegade is an unapologetic ode to joyful sensory overload. Truly, these are auteur-produced scents. 'Fragrances aren't daring enough. We are the freaks who are going to change that,' says Commes des Garçons alumnus Mark Buxton. The Perfarium partner, who works from his own laboratory in Paris, has created a woody, spicy Renegades scent that revolves around a smokey leather rose. labdanum, guaiacwood, vetiver and amber form a solidly evocative base against heart notes of bay, rose and leather, topped with basil, lentisk, black pepper and cassis flower.
