product description
Aw96 Alexander McQueen Dante Button Up Shirt Driving Alexander McQueen’s global reach and arguably, his insanity that lead to his unfortunate self-inflicted demise. The collection was directly inspired by 14th Century Poet Dante Alighieri and his infamous work. The Divine Comedy theme continued with theater inspired pieces in costume-like silhouettes and basic uniforms for the art inspired. The collection made Lee the British Fashion Designer of the year. That then set the bar for the art-oriented shows to come. Focusing on performing the very act that is runway, Lee Alexander McQueen pioneered a methodology that has yet to be replicated today. Where the pieces does not only speak for buyers but also for the creatively inclined. Each collection is a celebration of ideas and ideals, of classics and new breeds, and an experiment not only with silhouettes and materials but to the way we do runway shows. The shirt features a hybrid of materials. Narrating how the inorganic contaminates the organic, when the circles of hell repossessed moments of our mundane biological lives. Something that is synthetic and unnatural. The piece is showcased in high collar with a Tyrian Purple corset on the runway. This symbolizes how the circle of greed encroaches around the contamination of darkness, now that is worn in a common button-up. Look 43 in the runway, complete with McQueen’s signature button at the back collar.
