Meet @TenKeyPieces, a Bay Area haute mom who has a keen sense of luxury fashion style. Inspired by her mother, she started her own path as a fashion blogger shortly after becoming a mother as well. Let’s hear some sage advice from her for young girls who aspire to pursue fashion.

ModeSens: Since when did you get into fashion? What has fashion brought for your life?
@TenKeyPieces：My love of fashion began when I first discovered my mom’s closet which was full of amazing studio-54-worthy pieces from the 70’s and 80’s. My mom was a fashion icon in her own right; What has fashion brought to your life? In addition to a fabulous wardrobe, new friends and a sense of community. I’ve met so many people as a result of have a common ground in fashion.

ModeSens： What is your ideal lifestyle?
@TenKeyPieces： Working hard but with plenty of super chill moments and international travel experiences balanced by quality time with my family.

ModeSens：What is your favorite brand?
@TenKeyPieces：It’s so hard to choose one but I’m most attracted to Acne Studios as well as the Gucci aesthetic. They have a special nack for staying current as well as nostalgic. Who is your favorite designer? Currently it would be Han Chong of Self-Portrait. I love the balance he achieves in both feminine and masculine looks.
ModeSens：What is your favorite personal style? Minimal with a touch of feminine, Do you like to chase the trends or create your own style?
@TenKeyPieces： I love trends, don’t get me wrong, but I’d rather sample one or two each season for fun. I prefer to create my style which can change depending on my mood.

ModeSens：As a seasoned fashionista, what do you like to purchase for yourself?
@TenKeyPieces：What I purchase most and have a weakness for are statement coats and ankle boots.
ModeSens： What’s your advice for fashion in winter?
@TenKeyPieces：Layer.layer.layer. especially items that you bought for spring and fall. Don’t waste anything.
ModeSens：We know you wear suits a lot, anything you want to share with girls in suits?
@TenKeyPieces：To stay looking tall and lean, go monochromatic with the entire look. This is also a very authoritative and powerful look.
ModeSens：As a mother of three, what’s your secret of balancing life and work?
@TenKeyPieces：Wow, you know more about me than I realized. Work life balance is a bit of a myth in my opinion. To keep as sane as possible you must not be too hard on yourself or your family. Listen and be cognizant of when you’re not being present and in the moment. know when to say no and take a break from social media from time to time. Social media is a great tool but can add to the stress of trying to achieve balance too.
ModeSens：Any advices for girls who want to be a fashion blogger in their spare time?
@TenKeyPieces：I would advise that your learn as much about the technical side of building a website and seo optimization before you start. Network with other bloggers; Have a point of view.
