Alongside must-have leather goods brands are various up-and-coming labels, whose modern yet timeless pieces incorporate different shapes, colours and materials, selected with meticulous care.
These are the young designers to watch!
DANSE LENTE
Based in London, Danse Lente was set up by Youngwon Kim from South Korea. Her geometric designs are inspired by modern art and architecture, complete with quirky details (clasp, handle, etc.) borrowed from all over.
The brand is very active on social media and particularly well-known for its street style photos and its graphic and colourful streak, all very in tune with the times.
RSVP
Behind these 4 letters are school friends Jonathan and Thomas, who started their own leather goods label in 2015. Their aim is to make high quality products at an affordable price.
Hence, RSVP is supplied by French tanneries and its simple and elegant cardholders, clutches and bags are manufactured in France at workshops in Franche-Comté and Touraine.
The little added extra? Their bright and colourful (not to mention quirky) Instagram account.
CLARE V.
Clare V., which takes its name from designer Clare Vivier, is a leather goods and accessories label suffused with Californian sunshine! The world of Clare V. spans a complete range of stylish and functionalbags and accessories with a playful twist (hand-drawn designs, colours, prints, etc.).
While the leather is sourced from Italy, all the manufacturing takes place in Los Angeles! Its distinctive style strikes the perfect balance between Parisian chic and Californian cool, making Clare V. one of the most sought-after brands around.
STAUD
Staud is the work of Sarah Staudinger and George Augusto. Established in 2015 in Los Angeles, the Californian brand stands out for its contemporary style and exceptional savoir-faire direct from the west coast! Combining relaxed, retro charm and more urban influences, Staud creates collections of leather goods (as well as accessories and ready-to-wear) that are hard to resist.
YUZEFI
Designer Naza Yousefi draws inspiration for her brand, Yuzefi, from the world of interior design in creating her standout pieces. Handmade in London, Yuzefi bags are consistently embracing new techniques for working with different materials, namely leather, which features in many of the creations. The combination of soft colours and multiple shapes results in pared down yet sophisticated designs complete with feminine details such as gold chains.
HERBERT FRÈRE ET SŒUR
In establishing Herbert Frère et Sœur, siblings Flavien and Camille drew on the know-how of Orca Accessoires, the leather goods company established by their father in Fougères (Brittany) some 40 years ago.
Made from finest quality leather, the French brand’s bags give elegant design a contemporary twist.
Classic and modern in one!
