Ushering in a Return to Tailoring with an Editorial by Photographer Cam Hicks and Stylist Matthew Henson

Future Suiting

After years of graphic tees, hoodies, and XL silhouettes dominating the menswear market, it was a welcome change of pace to see a new proposal emerge in the FW19 collections—let’s call it . Think Kim Jones at Dior, suits worn shirtless. At Celine, Hedi Slimane pumped up his signature tailoring-first aesthetic. Dries gave us the ultimate psychedelic-sleek suiting wardrobe, as always. And then there was Stefano Pilati’s Random Identities scene-stealing baby blue blazer. Ditching the sweatpants, this season is all about embracing a no rules approach to dressing up. Creepers replace dress shoes, while relaxed shirting, loud prints, and utilitarian accents indicate that the old tenants of #menswear are long gone. To celebrate this shift, photographer Cam Hicks and stylist Matthew Henson played around with some of the season's best new suits. No tie required.
