The monochromatic optical designs popular in the 1960s were the source of inspiration for Nuove Forme's rectangular vase, in which a geometric design is created through latex masking. Three stages of firing are required for the vessel to take its final shape — the first to solidify the fresh earth poured into a plaster mould, then twice again for both the black and white layers of detailing.
